MEDIA RELEASE
The Midland County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a three vehicle crash that occurred in Ingersoll Township at the intersection of Sasse Road and Freeland Road at approximately 2:59 pm on September 23rd, 2014. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Midland Township Fire/Rescue, Richland Township Fire/Rescue, Midland County Emergency Medical Services and the Midland County Road Commission.
A black 2006 Toyota Scion XB being operated by Brandon Cox, 31 years old from the City of Midland, was traveling northbound on Sasse Road. Alexandria Cox, 30 years old from the City of Midland was the front seat passenger. Mr. Cox failed to yield to an eastbound silver 2013 Ford Fusion being operated by Emma Eldred, 18 years old from Lake Isabella, MI. After the collision the Ford Fusion went into the westbound lane of travel and was struck by a 2010 school bus from the Saginaw Intermediate School District being operated y Gina Glance, 58 years old from Saginaw, MI. After the collision the school bus overturned into the northern ditch west of the intersection. The bus had one passenger, a 13 year old boy from Mt. Haley Township in Midland County..
All five subjects were transported to the MidMichigan Medical Center by Midland County Emergency Medical Services for injuries sustained in the accident. Emma Eldred was extracted from the vehicle by members of the Midland Township Fire/Rescue and Richland Township Fire/Rescue. The Midland County Road Commission assisted with detouring traffic away from the crash site.
At this time, it is not believed alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
