Deputy Court Administrator/Attorney Referee

Under the supervision of the Probate Judge, the Deputy Court Administrator/Attorney Referee assists in the administration of the non-judicial activities of the Probate Court and the Juvenile Division of the Family Court.  This position serves as a liaison with the County Board of Commissioners, other courts, law enforcement agencies, other public and private agencies and community organizations.

As the Deputy Court Administrator, you will plan, develop, and implement policies to maintain compliance with statutes and court rules.  You will also draft and administer the annual budgets for areas of responsibility, including the State Child Care Fund budget and coordinate the implementation and management of the Court’s information systems.  Administering personnel and employee relations functions, including participating in union negotiations is required.

As the Attorney Referee you will regularly preside over a variety of delinquent, neglect, and abuse hearings.  You are expected to conduct various delinquency hearings, including preliminary hearings, pre-trials, adjudications, dispositional, and various other types of hearings and hold hearings in which juveniles are alleged to have been abused or neglected by a parent, guardian or custodian, including hearings to determine termination of parental rights.  You will also provide 24-hour, 7 days a week on-call support for placement of delinquent, abused and neglected youth.

Job requirements include a Juris Doctor Degree and three years of progressively more responsible experience in practicing law with an emphasis on litigation and juvenile law.  Preferred experience in a supervisory and administrative role in a juvenile division or related setting.  The County, at its discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.  You must be licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan and a member in good standing with the Michigan Bar Association.

The right candidate will have a thorough knowledge of the professional public management techniques involved in budgeting, personnel administration and resource management, and the ability to identify and implement new best practices.

You must possess a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of the State of Michigan Probate, Family and Juvenile court proceedings, procedures and practices, conducting case law research, analyzing and researching statues, interpreting legal documents, interpreting evidence, judicial administrative rules, applying laws, statutes and court decisions rules and regulations, and applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations

You must have the ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with County employees, contractors to the County, representatives of other governmental units, professional contacts, elected officials, and the public.

This position requires the ability to assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergency situations on a 24-hour basis.

Current salary range starting at $37.41hr progressing to $48.64/hr (7 year progression) with a competitive fringe benefit package.

Community Health Nurse - Part Time

(24 hours/week) - Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing home visits and care coordination services to women and infants eligible for the Maternal Infant Health Program. Flexible schedule, no weekends or holidays. Valid Michigan R.N. license - B.S.N. degree preferred. Job Description

Corrections Deputy - Part-Time- 20 hours

Looking for part time Correctional Deputy to fill a vacancy.  Duties for this position include conducting security rounds, accepting and releasing inmates, and working with inmates and civilians and other duties as assigned by Sheriff’s Office Administration. 

Candidates must pass a Background check, Physical agility test, Psychological and Medical Evaluation and meet all MSCTC standards, including a passing score on the EMPCO Corrections test prior to appointment.  Test information can be obtained at www.empco.net  Applicants will be required to participate in an oral interview process.  Hourly rate starting at $15.82 progressing to $27.72 on a 5 year wage scale.

Job Description

On-Call Nursing Supervisor- Midland County-Pinecrest Farms

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, organizes and directs the nursing and health care services on a scheduled shift. Administers medications and treatments, as required, and maintains appropriate records. Supervises and directs other facility staff on an assigned shift and assists them as necessary in carrying out their job functions. Greets and assists visitors to the facility and answers incoming telephone calls. Oversees the residents, assists and encourages them in their daily activities, interactions, and problem resolution. May act for the Director of Nursing in his/her absence.

Licensed Practical Nurse with the State of Michigan. High school diploma or equivalent, including some vocational training in nursing, or related field, and three years of nursing experience in a geriatric rehabilitation setting in long-term care, home health, residential housing, or a similar setting preferred.  Salary starting at $21.52/hr.

On-Call Resident Associate-Pinecrest Farms

Under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, performs housekeeping duties to assure a safe and healthful living environment for residents of Pinecrest. Provides assistance to the residents with personal hygiene, meal preparation, and clean up.

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience performing housekeeping tasks preferably in a nursing home environment. CPR and First Aid certification within six months of hire. Knowledge of the principles and practices of long-term facility care and cleanliness.  Knowledge of sanitary procedures and practices, human behavior, observing and caring for long-term care residents, and basic office procedures. Current salary $13.73.

On-Call Youth Development Worker-Midland County Juvenile Care Center

Under the supervision of a Detention Supervisor - Juvenile Center, provides for the safety, welfare, and security of the residents, staff, visitors, and building. Supervises, guides, and counsels residents through daily activities within the framework of the day treatment and detention units. Enforces rules within a behavior management setting by providing positive and authoritative reinforcements. Prepares a variety of reports, court reports, and documents detailing residents functioning in a structured setting.

 Associate’s Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, counseling, or related field and two year of progressively more responsible experience in a child care institution detention or juvenile residential treatment facilities.  Valid Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License. Must obtain certification in CPR, CPI and First Aid to maintain employment.  Current salary $17.80/hr
